Objective of IUAC School on Nuclear Reactions 2017, Oct 30-Nov 04, 2017
IUAC School on Nuclear Reactions 2017
October 30 - November 04, 2017
Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) is an autonomous centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC) providing advanced facilities to the user community for carrying out accelerator based research in basic sciences for more than three decades. Experimental nuclear physics, both nuclear reaction dynamics and nuclear structure, has been a core area of research since the inception of IUAC. A number of state of the art experimental facilities, namely, two recoil separators (HIRA and HYRA), an array of neutron detectors (NAND), a large scattering chamber (GPSC) and an array of HPGe Clover detectors (INGA) etc. are available at IUAC to facilitate research by the user community.
In its effort to impart in-depth knowledge of nuclear reactions to research scholars and young faculty members, the IUAC School on Nuclear Reactions 2017 will be organized at IUAC, New Delhi during October 30 - November 04, 2017.
Topics to be covered
Basics of nuclear reactions
Elastic and inelastic scattering
The Optical model
Break-up, transfer and incomplete fusion
Fusion at near and deep sub-barrier energies
Nuclear fission
Statistical and dynamical models of CN decay
Astrophysical reactions
Collisions at intermediate energies
Relativistic nuclear collisions

Research scholars and young faculty members, interested in participating in the School, need to apply online with necessary details latest by September 30, 2017. Applications can not be submitted by post or through email. Each application should be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the applicant's research supervisor, which can be sent via email to: nrschool@iuac.res.in. Registration fee for participation in the School is Rs. 1000, which can be paid by cash at the registration desk upon arrival.
IUAC will provide the selected applicants boarding and lodging at its premises, free of cost. Limited travel support by train maximum up to AC 3-tier by the shortest route (or equivalent by AC bus) may be provided to participants from the universities only.
