Acceleration due to
gravity using pendulum
Studying the oscillations of a pendulum is part
of any elementary physics course. Since the time period of a pendulum
is a function of acceleration due to gravity, one can calculate g by
doing a pendulum experiment. The accuracy of the result depends mainly
on how accurate we can measure the period T of the pendulum. Let us
explore the pendulum using phoenix. A rod pendulum is very easy to
fabricate. We took a
cylindrical rod and fixed a knife edge at one end of it to make a T
shaped structure. This experiment can be done using the GUI shown below
or the Python program 'rodpend.py'
